The language used on 16 Horsepower’s records comes out of old Pentecostal churches and I am certain there is a church some where in his hometown in Colorado with pews that bear the wear of him and his family sitting in them Sunday after Sunday. I notice a change in tone with Edwards as we begin to discuss what his beliefs are. A cute, nicely shaped goatee maybe -- like the whiskery ones the dykes wear in the downtown apartment building where I live, they're so funny when we ride the elevator together -- but the full-on Abe Lincoln treatment is just damn stupid.
